An enduring craze, the Asian art of tattooing has been around for thousands of years. Once seen as a badge of pride worn by gangsters, they have today evolved into body art flaunted by models and celebrities. This weekend, over 5,000 admirers and practitioners of the craft will converge at the Singapore Expo for the Singapore Tattoo Show . The three-day event - the Republic's first dedicated to the craft promises lots of ink action from both regional and international artists, including Chris Garver of 'Miami Ink' fame.

Local tattoo fans would be familiar with Chris Garver, who stars in the popular reality TV series Miami Ink. One of the biggest names in the tattoo world, Garver started experimenting with tattooing at the age of 17 and later moved to New York later to pursue a professional career in the craft. A renowned globe-trotter, he has tattooed clients in Asia, both Americas, and throughout Europe.
